About
As the Latinx and Immigration Community Organizer at Access Living since January 2024, Chris Ramos leads critical efforts to create spaces where Latinx immigrants with disabilities can organize and advocate for systemic change. Before stepping into this role, Chris was an active volunteer with Cambiando Vidas, a community organizing group within Access Living focused on empowering this often-overlooked population. With extensive training in community organizing and leadership from Access Living to Alianza Americas, Chris Ramos is dedicated to addressing the systemic inequities affecting immigrants with disabilities.
Their connection to this work is deeply personal. Growing up as the child of Salvadoran and Guatemalan immigrants in Chicago, Chris witnessed the compounded challenges their family faced, from the trauma of war and undocumented status to the difficulties of displacement through gentrification. These experiences, coupled with seeing the struggles of immigrants with disabilities within their own family, profoundly shaped Chris's advocacy and drive for meaningful change. Their work, whether through legislative advocacy, coalition-building, or grassroots campaigns, is rooted in a commitment to achieving lasting impact and building a more inclusive society for future generations.
